Life On and Off an Acreage

In-sights into moving from an Acreage back to Town, plus a few things I find of interest.

Two things that horses are scared about:

1. Things that move
2. Things that don't move

Old enough to be eccentric, but not rich enough

What is This?

It's not a rubber balloon filled with water!
It's not a kids toy!

It's not a light bulb!

It looks like a rubber balloon. It feels like a rubber balloon, but it's not!

Give up?

One of my chickens just laid an egg with no shell!
It's back to Chicken 101! Find the guilty party, correct the behaviour, or it's stew pot time!

I like my breakfast with a shell on it!

  1. I know what you mean. But how I thank God for the chickens and the pigs. Yes, for cows also, but breakfast time I am thankful for eggs and bacon. I don't every recall seeing an egg without a shell. What causes that? Is is a real fluke or can it be a repeated action on a hen's part? How do you correct the action?

  2. Gregg, the hens are just going through a molt where they stop laying for several months, recharge their egg production line and grow new feathers. It will correct itself. That one hen is either stopping the lay, or just starting back up.

  4. I tried to post this comment"
I am hoping it was a pigs bladder to play with like Laura and Mary did in the big woods.
