Life On and Off an Acreage

In-sights into moving from an Acreage back to Town, plus a few things I find of interest.

Two things that horses are scared about:

1. Things that move
2. Things that don't move

Old enough to be eccentric, but not rich enough

My Walk May6,2020

It was a good day starting at 06:30 dark. The pictures were all taken around Rotary Park in Whitecourt.

We have a Northern Shoveller preening

Whatever he can do, so can she!

It was fairly warm, but this Seagull still had to fluff up.

A pair of Blue Wing Teal enjoying the sunshine. She is very camouflaged!

Then there are the noisy crows. This one was not happy with Daphnie being so close.

The Common Loon was enjoying a stretch after chasing breakfast in the pond

Our Ospreys
are back. There have been Ospreys in that nest every year for about 9 years that I know of.

There were five Mule Deer in the park and they didn't mind Daphnie at all

They just kept on feeding.

Then there is the Canada Goose, head up looking for any danger to his hens

All in all, a good hours walk!

Ospreys

The nest hatched out 3 chicks this year. They are still hanging around, but are nearing the size of their parents

A few missing feathers will soon be filled in.
Fishing is pretty good in the stocked pond in the center of town.
Finally, they co-operated in a fly past or two.

The youngsters are taking on the challenge of landing in difficult places.
Pretty soon they will be heading south.

End of Summer

Our town park is getting to be a little vacant as kids and parents prepare for another year of school.
It won't be long before the pond is frozen and everything is white.
The quackers will be heading south.
