Life On and Off an Acreage

In-sights into moving from an Acreage back to Town, plus a few things I find of interest.

Two things that horses are scared about:

1. Things that move
2. Things that don't move

Old enough to be eccentric, but not rich enough

Pond Life

I decided to take both dogs for a walk to the pond today. Yesterday, I only took Brooklyn and Boots howled his head off in protest! They were both very well behaved, but I don't know how many more walks Boots has in him. He was shaking in the hind end pretty bad by the time we got home.

The lonely little muskrat was still swimming around.
A Magpie was squawking in the tree at my presence.

The pond water is getting pretty cold . Brooklyn did one retrieve and then lost interest. Boots dropped the pond level a lot having a very long drink. No ducks or geese around and none flying.

Muskrat Haven

A Sunday afternoon walk was in order today, after church , of course.
The farmer had harvested his field of canola and has started to harrow the edge.
The pond was empty of birds. The only thing swimming was this cute little muskrat.

He was not camera shy and proceeded to pose, keeping an eye on Brooklyn

He definitely has a rope like tail!

Then of course, there is Brooklyn. The water is getting cold as experienced by flying water, but not too cold yet to keep her out of the water.

Coming out of Hibernation etc.

I took a quick walk around Rotary Park yesterday just to see what was happening. The sun actually came out for the short time that i was there.

I caught this Muskrat swimming along the open space between the ice and shore. Yes, there is still ice! Lots of it!

I was hoping that he would come to shore, but he was just out for a cruise.
The Ospreys returned over the last two days, probably during a snow storm, and are staking out their old nesting site. The town built a platform on top of a telephone pole, and it's been used yearly for the last 8 years or so.
The old man prefers a top of a dead tree where he can keep an eye on things.
It's a start, and a sign that maybe better weather is coming. Rain and snow again this morning!
