Life On and Off an Acreage

In-sights into moving from an Acreage back to Town, plus a few things I find of interest.

Two things that horses are scared about:

1. Things that move
2. Things that don't move

Hot, Hot, Hot!

It's sitting at +30C (86F) and the humidity is way up there. This is very warm for us. To compound the issue, the mosquitoes are out in droves. I just brushed Biz's face off and already you can see them starting to land. From+5C (41F) the other night to this!

The horses spent most of the day in the shelter, coming out only for periodic feedings.

Boots is still on guard, making sure nothing happens to his herd.

Days like this cause a guy to wish for snow! Do you know, it was really too hot to even saddle up a horse, which was my goal early this morning.

  2. The heat and humidity really is draining! Hope it cools down for you soon...I'm glad for the cooler temps we've been having, along with lower humidity this week...but I'm NOT ready for the "S" word!!

  3. I hope it does cool down soon, so you can enjoy some mild temps before winter officially sets in!

  4. Yikes, poor horses! But all that nice green grass must help make up for the insects.

  5. Sounds like you've had a touch of Georgia weather! Welcome to my world. Except for some, 86 degrees might be something of a 'cold snap' down here... OK, that's an exaggeration. It's still an energy zapper though and those mosquitos look ferociously annoying.
Here's to cooler weather in both our neck of the woods.

  7. Have you ever used the pyrethrum sprays on your horses? They are pretty safe. I've used it on my goats on occasion when I couldn't stand to see them like that anymore. I hate having to use it so I only do it when it's really bad.
