Life On and Off an Acreage

In-sights into moving from an Acreage back to Town, plus a few things I find of interest.

Two things that horses are scared about:

1. Things that move
2. Things that don't move

Around the Acreage

I have no idea what these flowers are. They were here when we bought the place, and keep coming up each year. My favourite type of flower, no maintenance! Now, to be perfect they need to be edible.
Not much happening around the place. The horses are back in the lower field. Boots has a shady spot to keep an eye on them. Life is good!
Now what was that over there? It's destroying the concentration required to be a good horse dog.
Yep, all is peaceful! However, the leaves on the poplar trees are getting a brown hue and are starting to curl. The temperature is starting to get down to the +5C (41F) and the nights are getting shorter. Time to check out the snow blower.

  1. I can't say for sure, but those flowers look like "obedient plant". When you move the little individual flowers around on the stems, do they stay put? That's why they're called "obedient"! :)

  3. I can't help you identify the flowers. They are pretty though and a bonus that they are maintenance free. The horses coats are so sleek. They're beautiful. And I'm having a hard time thinking you're going to be under cold weather again. Snowblower? What?

  4. Oh, gosh, we were down to 49 here overnight, and the trees are turning... I just hope we have enough snow this winter to justify blowing it! Please, please, please!

  5. Bite your tongue!!! I'm not ready for that business yet. Although...I'll admit that after a week of these unusually hot temps, I could be tolerant of some coolish, brisk days with plenty of sunshine. Sweatshirt weather. Fire feels good in the morning weather. For about the next 4 months would suit me just fine. :) Sounds perfect huh?
Your farm looks beautiful, and it's still so green. This time of year, our grass is dead and brown, so much for cool weather grasses in the heat. Enjoy what's left of our summer!!

  6. Those are lupins...they grow all over here too, some have migrated to my garden where I have left them because they look so pretty. They look especially pretty in a vase with Indian paintbrush and those yellow flowers with the petals, can't remember their name now but its on the tip of my tongue, they all grown wild here.
