We seem to be adopted by 4 Black Billed Magpies. We see them frequently, often in the winter, and generally at a distance. These guys have taken to the bird feeder and our "pond". They apparently have a bad reputation, but so far we haven't seen why. They like to warm their feet on the horse's backs in the winter.
I am going to have to wait for a while until they become tamer for the in flight pictures. They are truly a very pretty bird.
Expect more (hopefully) in the near future.
They are a pretty bird, and not having ever dealt with them, I am not sure either why they have such a bad reputation. (Apparantly, they make a good pie though! yucky!)
ReplyDeletereally handsome! love their ultra long tails!
ReplyDeleteMagpies are common in Colorado, but it's a bit too barren here on the ranch for them. We had them in suburbia, and I enjoyed them very much. Bad rep is undeserved!
ReplyDeleteGreat captures...lovely bird!
ReplyDeleteThey are pretty...and big!
ReplyDeleteGood looking birds! Can't say that I have ever noticed them, out of all the places I have lived.
ReplyDeletePretty bird and I agree these are great pictures. Hugs, Bobbi Jo
