Life On and Off an Acreage

In-sights into moving from an Acreage back to Town, plus a few things I find of interest.

Two things that horses are scared about:

1. Things that move
2. Things that don't move

Field of Dreams?

Not unless you are having a nightmare! There are a total of 12 wheelbarrows to load and haul tomorrow. Why go to a gym when you can get this type of work out for free?

There is nothing more sociable than a horse when someone else is working. Besides, they don't talk back, much. It was just below freezing, overcast and slightly foggy, so I figured this was a good day to get caught up, before spring really hits and everything turns to a soggy mess.

It may look like poop, but by this time next year it will be all composted down ready for garden/field application. The pile will literally get smoking hot!

Boom doesn't normally stand with his hind feet that far apart. Guess what he is up to.The winner gets a free pail full.
It was great to be able to get out in shirt sleeves and hang out.

It was almost as good as riding, well, almost.

Remember if your feet are on the ground, you need a taller horse.

  1. I assume you caught him making a deposit. He must be so embarrassed. I'd like my prize gift wrapped, please.

  2. I will skip the prize. I've got plenty of my Texas-produced stuff here - no need to import...

  8. Who needs a gym, indeed?

I'd need medical help afterwards if I did all that work!

  9. Oh! The indignity, Boom! Reminds me of a rabbit we once had whom we reckoned turned 1 cup of food into 2 cups of poo.

  10. Yes who does need a gym! I haul about 4 wheelbarrow loads a day with the goat, sheep, and cow pens and the rabbits. Thankfully we use the tractor for the horse manure. Great fertilizer and they keep us all in good shape right? Hilarious picture of Boom.
