Life On and Off an Acreage

In-sights into moving from an Acreage back to Town, plus a few things I find of interest.

Two things that horses are scared about:

1. Things that move
2. Things that don't move

Even Though...

Even though we now have no horses, it pays to look out the window. This guy was sneaking up the fence line, obviously looking for some does. Pardon the poor quality. It was well into dusk.

Hard to miss at 40 yards! But wait, it's a pet! No it isn't! It's on the other side of the fence! Maybe next year I will have the time and space to pursue him in fair chase.

Deer Friends

This guy is going to have a larger rack than I first thought!
The "boys" are hanging out while mama raises this years fawn, the way it should be!
 Yep, I see you too!
Actually, 4 whitetail bucks showed up today, all of various sizes.

High quality horse salt appears to be their favourite.

They continue to grow antlers like crazy. Two extra points were added over the last week.

Word gets Around

High quality salt available.

More and more are starting to come in at all times of the day.
This is a new buck on the block. Word gets around.
they are always on the look out.
 However, the dogs are friendly.

First Hunting Trip of the Year

This is the guy that I went up the mountain to try and find. He hasn't been around for several months, but I was kind of hoping to come across him. The weather was not good with lots of cloud, fog and high humidity.

I walked and rattled for 4 hours, but never saw a thing. None of the tracks were new and the walking was tough with about 6 inches of crusty snow on the ground.
I would like to see just how big that rack grew over the summer. Next time out, I will head for lower areas on the mountain. I doubt that anybody got him in bow season, as he is pretty wily. there are no current pictures as the day was really gloomy.
