Life On and Off an Acreage

In-sights into moving from an Acreage back to Town, plus a few things I find of interest.

Two things that horses are scared about:

1. Things that move
2. Things that don't move

Old enough to be eccentric, but not rich enough

1970's Photos. When they were young!

When Christmas comes and the kids fade out. The desired effect!

Trolling for big fish!  Yeah, I know, somehow a summer picture crept in.

Did you ever notice that the snow was always deeper when you were a kid?

Why I was in shape back then!  An old saying carved in a mantel place "He who cuts his own wood is twice warmed"!

Our old dog Pal, the best babysitter in town! He was a herder and kept kids out of harms way.

Sledding was always popular around the Christmas holidays!

For all you folks out there in blog land, have a GOOD day, and remember that most days are gooder than others.

Merry Christmas!

The celebration was done on December 24 so that Mike and family could get to Jasper that evening for two days of skiing. Presents were opened. Turkey was eaten and a good time was had by all.

All 7 of us went to evening service . We went home and the kids departed for Jasper.

Christmas day was spent watching movies and generally relaxing.
We elected to look after Mad Max. He is no problem and they both wore out pretty quick. I took them both for a half mile walk today and wore them out good.
Brooklyn iced up a few times, even with big feet and very hairy toes.
Hope everybody out there in blogland has enjoyed a wonderful holiday!

Something to Think About!

Author is not known to me.

   MERRY CHRISTMAS

YOUR FIRST CHRISTMAS CARD
Cleverly done!!!
Twas the month before Christmas
When all through our land,
Not a Christian was praying
Nor taking a stand.
Why the PC Police had taken away
The reason for Christmas - no one could say.
The children were told by their schools not to sing
About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.
It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say
December 25th is just a ' Holiday '.
Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit
Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!
CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-Pod
Something was changing, something quite odd!
Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa
In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.
As Targets were hanging their trees upside down
At Lowe's the word Christmas - was no where to be found.
At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears
You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.
Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-is-ty
Are words that were used to intimidate me.
Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen
On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton !
At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter
To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.
And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith
Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace
The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded
The reason for the season, stopped before it started.
So as you celebrate 'Winter Break' under your 'Dream Tree'
Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.
Choose your words carefully, choose what you say
Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS,
not Happy Holiday!
Please, all Christians join together and
wish everyone you meet
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Christ is The Reason for the Christ-mas Season!
If you agree please forward, if not, simply delete.

All is Calm

After the hectic pace of Christmas, it is good to revert to a  peaceful state once again.

I hope everybody had a great Christmas.

The Real Reason for the Getaway 3 of 3

The last two posts of Elk and Sheep were the bonus part of the trip. The real reason was to enjoy my oldest son and family for the brief time that they were back in Canada.
There are many reasons for the trip, the first is the chance to get a family portrait in the "wilds" of the Shuswap.
The second is to get more photos  of the family. It may be a while before we get the chance again as they head back to the States on Tuesday.
It is a great chance to see kids playing in the snow.
It is a great spot to see fabulous scenery and watch the grand kids sliding.
It is also a chance to celebrate an early Christmas with them and to continue  the tradition of bringing home the tree.
It is an opportunity to see more scenery.

How's this for cute!

Family: What Christmas is all about, and celebrating God's gifts to us!
