Life On and Off an Acreage

In-sights into moving from an Acreage back to Town, plus a few things I find of interest.

Two things that horses are scared about:

1. Things that move
2. Things that don't move

Making Do

One thing I miss about the Acreage is the ability to step out the door into a wild life abundance. Without the Acreage, I now have to adapt. Who says an old dog can't adapt?

On the way home from Edmonton, I decided to pull over and rest my back and stretch my legs. It turns out there was a small pond beside the road, full of interesting critters.

 The Shovel duck was relaxing
And showing off his beautiful feet.
A couple of Mallards took no notice of me

A Blue Winged Teal decided to preen a little
He was even managing to get to those hard to get at places.

And then finally, a perfect pose!
Oops, make that two poses!

  2. I love quacks!

You'll just have to take more scenic drives, and I bet you'll find more little spots like this. I found that even when living in a big city, I'd manage to find little oases here and there!

  3. What a wonderful find! I know it must be difficult without the acreage, but outings like this must make it better.

  6. Two poses...ha ha. I didn't know you had moved from your acreage into the city...what a culture shock that must be!! Still able to find some wildlife though...you say driving home from Edmonton, where are you now? I know a little of the area with my son being in Red Deer.
