Life On and Off an Acreage

In-sights into moving from an Acreage back to Town, plus a few things I find of interest.

Two things that horses are scared about:

1. Things that move
2. Things that don't move

It Never Stops!

Just when you think you have it made, you remember the shed with its very old shingles. A high wind the other day stripped a few off allowing rain (if we ever get any) to enter the shed.

 Looking at the neighbors sheds and roofs, it appears that dark colours are a no no. There are a lot of roofs in the neighborhood looking almost as bad as this.
 The new shingles are a two tone grey and seem to last better in the hood. The week spots were re-enforced with triple lays and tar paper was put down first. The hardware guy said not putting down tar paper is a mistake  a lot of people make, particularly on sheds.
 Hopefully, the shingles will last for many years.
Normally, shingling a shed this size would take me about 4 hours. This one took me 12, mainly due to the condition of my back. The back fusion is set for the end of the month. It would appear that the sooner the better.

I have a lot of work to do before then as the Doc said I will be useless lifting etc. for 2 to 6 months. I figure on allowing 2 to 4 days. Elaine calls me a stubborn old f*rt! She is currently on the way to Israel for 12 days.
Lots of time to get some work done without somebody saying that I shouldn't be doing that! :-}

  3. IAN! I can't believe you shingled the shed with your back. I think you better revise your 2-4 day recovery time estimate, lol. You take care of yourself and let yourself HEAL!
    Yay for Elaine. If she takes lots of pictures, I'd love to see them - maybe post them here? Hint, hint...
