Life On and Off an Acreage

In-sights into moving from an Acreage back to Town, plus a few things I find of interest.

Two things that horses are scared about:

1. Things that move
2. Things that don't move

They do grow up fast! this is only about two months since the fawn was hatched. Already she has grown almost to mom's size. If you look closely, right under the white arch is Boots, king of the domain.

The deer are not at all bothered. Mom is showing junior that some dogs are safe to be around.
the fawn is not too sure though, and is keeping a close eye on Boots.

  3. Oh, you do have a lot of deer around. Looks like the whole family came for a munching visit. Boots and our dog seem very similar... they like to WATCH deer and squirrels instead of chasing them away.

  4. It's been a long time since I've seen a buck in velvet around here...the wolves and the cougar have taken more than their share. Maybe this year. So far, we have seen a few does and only one fawn since late last fall.
We also have so many bear on the trail cameras. The country changes as the population spreads. And to think that we live way up north in the middle of nowhere.
Looking back, I see your gorgeous Alpine. My daughter swoons over horses. She raises Arabians and a rescued cat and dog.

  6. Nice to see your dogs just taking in the view. Mine always bark at the deer!

  7. The fawns here are rarely in the yard this summer. They must be enjoying the cooler areas in the woods.

  8. Deer are wonderful to see but they wreaked havoc with my young lilacs last spring/winter...will have to cover them this year! I especially like seeing spotted fawns.
