Life On and Off an Acreage

In-sights into moving from an Acreage back to Town, plus a few things I find of interest.

Two things that horses are scared about:

1. Things that move
2. Things that don't move

Spring is Happening!

The packed snow is going fast. It was up to the top of the water trough, packed firm and hard by three, 1200 pound horses. Can you believe that I spent an hour grooming dead hair out of Tucker yesterday? You'd never know it by the picture. The first day forecast for 70 F she gets a well deserved bath. Her top knot is greasy and oily. Yecch!
Boom is in the same boat. Groomed for an hour and still looking like he's been shot at and hit.
It's still too icy for riding, but the roads are starting to improve. I wonder which two weeks will be summer this year?

  3. Glad to hear it is warming up for you! Horses looking good for the hard winter. Even though they look "shot at and hit" the wintered pretty good. Those are some harsh conditions.

  5. Li: Grumpy, bored, tired? His "leave me alone" is much the same.

texwisgirl: 107? I'd melt into a puddle. I can't ever remember experiencing anything that hot.

Gregg: It's all in what you get used to.

Farmchick: You are being kind. It is ground, sort of, but not a nice type of ground. It also smells of "eau de horse.

  6. So good that you are finally seeing some green grass and dirt again. The snow should be melted by June... God bless, Lloyd
