Life On and Off an Acreage

In-sights into moving from an Acreage back to Town, plus a few things I find of interest.

Two things that horses are scared about:

1. Things that move
2. Things that don't move

  1. When does it start to thaw out around your area?

  2. Well, that depends... If it is a good spring, the snow is gone by mid April, the ice is off the lakes by May 1 and we can generally plant the garden by June 15. Any earlier than June 15 and you would likely have to plant again. I have also seen a foot of snow on August 1. So, it's hard to give a definitive answer!

  5. Yep, the countryside is real pretty right now. The snow is only about a foot in the fields at this point. Last year there was only one strand of wire showing on the fence. We normally get the majority of our snow in March. I hope so, so that we will get a good hay crop this year. By the way, don't feel bad about having mud, not snow, as our snow turns to rich, gooey, sticky MUD when it thaws.
