Life On and Off an Acreage

In-sights into moving from an Acreage back to Town, plus a few things I find of interest.

Two things that horses are scared about:

1. Things that move
2. Things that don't move

Old enough to be eccentric, but not rich enough

A Walk by the River

It was +10 and cloudy so Daphne and I decided to take a long walk along the river bank. The Athabasca is starting to rise and spread out.

There were lots of geese posing
The Ospreys are back again. I did not try to get close as I did not want to disturb them. A fellow walker said that they had just returned.
A muskrat was feeding along the edge and was quite content to let us walk up to him (or her).
He was not shy about posing for the camera!
The Mallards were up feeding on the grass, and were pretty laid back.
The hen was pretty shiny and had captured  attracted a mate
 The male was very watchful
A couple of teal swam by.
 Geese like grass!
 Geese really like grass!
I semi missed this Mule deer while watching the river. I should have looked behind me!

There were lots of Yellow Bellied Sapsuckers around. This one beat my shutter speed.
All in all it was a good 2 1/2 hours wlk. Daphne got to play fetch the Kong in the dog park, and I got lots of fresh air.

Got up this morning to snow! :-{

Another Walk

In between snow showers, the dogs and I did another walk around town. Unfortunately, no birds, no tracks, deer or any other wildlife. This is a big difference from the Acreage. I guess a priority for the back yard is a bird feeder! I will lure them in.
