Life On and Off an Acreage

In-sights into moving from an Acreage back to Town, plus a few things I find of interest.

Two things that horses are scared about:

1. Things that move
2. Things that don't move

Scenery on the Walk

The deer did not seem to be bothered by the dogs on the way to the Dog Park. Brooklyn couldn't be bothered to look at them. From the Acreage, she learned she couldn't catch them, so why be bothered.

Daphne on the other hand, wasn't as wise. She wanted a piece of them big time. Fortunately, she was on the leash!

There were five of them, all Mule Deer does. The buck didn't show himself, but I am sure he was keeping an eye on his harem.

Quick! Take the photo. This is my best side!

They were very interested in our passing.

I was heading up for coffee the other day and was driving past a school, grades JK to grade 4, I think. I was stopping for the crossing guard when a Mule doe ran through traffic , into the drop off area where mothers were getting their kids out of cars and up to a fence where about 60 kids were playing on the other side. She looked like she was going to jump the fence and join the kids. About 5 seconds later a little buck 2X2 or a pickle fork came running after her with one thing in mind. The doe, followed by the buck ran back through traffic and off across a field. I was just smiling and wondering how the mothers would explain things to little Johnny or Jenny, if the doe had jumped the fence and the buck had his way with her? The intent was sure there. I also wondered how the school playground folks would have handled it. Only in Whitecourt would you see this. I guess I have an over active imagination.
