Strong westerly winds with gusts up to 90 km/h are expected today. In the Capital Region, winds should increase late this morning with peak gusts around 90 km/h from noon until late this afternoon. Around Slave Lake, winds are gusting to 110 km/h and should diminish late this afternoon. Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.
