Life On and Off an Acreage

In-sights into moving from an Acreage back to Town, plus a few things I find of interest.

Two things that horses are scared about:

1. Things that move
2. Things that don't move

Blue Jays at Last!

No, I don't mean the baseball team!
These guys showed up in the neighbour's cherry tree this evening. Time to get the peanuts out to encourage them to stay around this winter.

This juvenile was tossing the cherries down like there was no tomorrow. I hope Blue jays are not prone to diarrhea!

They were pretty laid back. Hopefully I will see them again soon.

  2. I know some people don't care for Bluejays because they take over the bird feeders...but I think they're quite pretty!

  3. Love the Bluejays! Mine scarf down the cracked corn like there's no tomorrow. I put the sunflowers & peanuts in tubes so those don't disappear as fast! Great close-up shots, as usual, Ian!

  4. I love blue jays, too! I had a large group stay last winter. I really don't understand why some people don't like them, but - oh well. Best of luck keeping yours around!

  6. Wonderful that you could see them, and I hope they stay around for you. I love it when they visit here, which isn't often. (I'm back from the Bison Range, and doing my one day a week post and commenting today.) Thanks for hanging in there with me.
