Life On and Off an Acreage

In-sights into moving from an Acreage back to Town, plus a few things I find of interest.

Two things that horses are scared about:

1. Things that move
2. Things that don't move

Daylight Savings Time: An Explanation that Makes Sense!

It takes the dogs (and me) a few days to mentally adjust our clocks and get meal time right. Trying to figure out why we still do this is beyond me!

I saw a really good explanation in one of our weekly newspapers. Yes, we have two.

An old native elder commented that the Government thinking  is similar to a blanket. If you cut one foot off the end, and sew it on the other end, it doesn't make the blanket any longer. Think about that for a while!

Saskatchewan has it right! Stay on Standard Time year round! It even makes sense to my dogs. :-}

  1. Hmmm...I never heard that explanation! I guess this way we have more daylight in the evening...for folks that are away at work during the day. However...I find it horribly difficult to "lose" that hour in the spring...especially on a Sunday morning! We struggle to get the cows milked and morning work finished and get to Church on time as it is!

  2. Yes that is true but the sun does shine on your face(the top of the fixed blanket) a lot longer

  4. Amen to all that. I wish they'd just leave the time alone. I don't like change - on either end!

  5. Exactly- I wish someone would listen to all of us who think dst needs to be gone, gone, gone.

  6. I read that explanation a few days ago and it makes such good sense! I wish we would all do away with the time change thing.

  7. Try changing 5 HOURS Ian ( having flown East from Miami on Sat night)
    I am still pausing mid sentence, looking for the word I need.
    Or is that a SENIOR MOMENT?

  8. Ian,
    Try 5 hr time difference on our flight from Miami on Saturday. I am still pausing mid sentence (Tue) when I am lost for a word- or maybe that is called a 'Senior moment.'
