Life On and Off an Acreage

In-sights into moving from an Acreage back to Town, plus a few things I find of interest.

Two things that horses are scared about:

1. Things that move
2. Things that don't move

Why Trees Bend

It is kind of a damp, cloudy, bleary day around the Acreage today. I went and visited Elaine in the hospital, cleared up the hay shed for hay delivery tomorrow, took Brooklyn for a walk and swim, and could only find this poor little Blue Spruce to photograph. My heart was not in it-...kind of a downer day.

Elaine has now been in the hospital for one week, with minimal improvement. They have ruled out tumours or cancer as a cause, thank God! All other systems seem good. They did do a stomach biopsy just in case of a yeast infection.

They are back to Parkinson's Disease as a cause and suspect that they may have overdosed her on the medicine. Cutting back has allowed her to eat (for the first time in three weeks). This is a BIG improvement, even though it is just a few bites.

There is still no word as to when she might get out, certainly not before she can walk more than a few steps.

Sometimes life can get a little down on the Acreage! I must remind myself to be like the tree, big load and no bending.

Stay safe!

  3. Wow, sorry to hear that sounds more like you are having a "downer" week. Hope they get a diagnosis soon and a correct one. And don't overdose her on any medications. Have learned with a few past experiences you need to ask questions, and ask again, take notes, and stay on top of medical procedures. Stay positive and I hope she recovers and is home soon.

    Take care.

  4. Such a good attitude in the midst of heart-heavy circumstances. Life can make us want to crumble; I hope the med change will bring about a good result. Prayers and thoughts to you and yours.

  5. oh Ian, I was wondering how Elaine is doing. I am sorry to hear she is still in the hospital. My friend had similar issues with her Parkinson's meds - once they figured it out she radically improved. I hope this is the case with Elaine. *hugs*
