There are several reasons:
1: I don't like my full name being posted all over the internet.
2: The concept of circles does nothing for me. I have my friends and followers (who I enjoy) and do not need the contacts being expanded indefinitely.
3: I am not a fan of Facebook for similar reasons. Google+ is too much like Facebook.
4: I believe in the basics of KISS. (Keep it simple surely).
5: When I find things working well, I don't like things that break it.
Now, if Google would allow me to have my Followers widget back up, life would be good.
I like to keep it simple too! I joined Google + because I though I had to, but my follower list never disappeared, so I'll stick with what works for me! :) (My dashboard still shows me updates from the blogs that I follow)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, Ian. Hope you get your follower widget back up.
ReplyDeleteGoogle seems to be on a campaign to alienate as many of their users as possible. They're doing a very good job of it.
ReplyDeletei have a google+ acct but have never linked my blog to it. don't like using my real name on my blog. folks who get my email know it, but still...
ReplyDeleteI don't know too many people who use Google+ on a regular basis. Actually, the only time it was really useful to me was when Skype quit working - I could use the Google hangout feature to videochat with friends. It makes a nice backup, although I prefer Skype.
ReplyDeleteI'm getting close to pulling the plug on G+ as well, it simply isn't very user friendly... and as to GFC, I too wish they hadn't taken that away from those of us that don't have blogs on Blogger... it took me a while to revive my followers after its demise... I'm a new rss subscriber here.
ReplyDeleteI also find it super annoying and non productive. I hear you.
