Life On and Off an Acreage

In-sights into moving from an Acreage back to Town, plus a few things I find of interest.

Two things that horses are scared about:

1. Things that move
2. Things that don't move

Old enough to be eccentric, but not rich enough

July 13, 2012

We have 6 baby magpies hanging around. They are almost full grown and have definitely found their vocal chords!

This is either mom, or dad. It's hard to tell them apart.
The potatoes are hilled and growing well, in spite of not having any rain.
The rest of the garden is also doing great.
The neighbours have grass. The lawn mowers have eaten ours down. This whitetail knows which is the better side!

No, that's not dirt on the lens. It's smoke from three forest fires about 200 km north of us. Visibility is down to about 3 miles. We are not in any danger, although the fire hazard has jumped back up to extreme again. Thunderstorms  are forecast. Hopefully, no new fires will happen.

Have a great weekend!

  3. What a fantastic garden you have, and not a weed to be seen...I cannot say that. Magpies, we do not have or least we have not seen any. So they are vocal, like a jay???? Glad to see Tucker is doing better. As for the deer, now those, we do have and they love the gardens so we have to keep them fenced.
Also, thanks for stopping...my back did straighten out, about 11 yrs. ago I had a rod put in and all kinds of metal to make detectors sing. It's feeling a bit better but then, the garden still needs weeding.
Rain forecast for here too...hope your place stays safe from the fires. Will tuck a prayer in.

  7. I'm just catching up on past posts. Your garden looks great. So much food in there! The birds are beautiful. We don't have these in Georgia. And above all, I hope that rain has come to put out the fires. Seems like rain is desperately needed in many places.
