Life On and Off an Acreage

In-sights into moving from an Acreage back to Town, plus a few things I find of interest.

Two things that horses are scared about:

1. Things that move
2. Things that don't move

A Busy Week on the Acreage!

The goils doing what they love to do, eat! They are now getting pretty shiny and are slightly out of shape. I saddled up Biz and gave her about an hours work out. She was puffing and sneezing and generally complaining about the work load. She will get over it!

Tucker's Fire Star, AKA Tucker will have a turn under saddle tomorrow, weather permitting. She is well muscled as suits a quarter horse, but has a roll or two that do not belong. Must work on that!
The snow storm dumped 4 cm of snow on us. It bent a few trees over, but no permanent damage was done. The peas and potatoes are in the small garden and the potatoes are up a couple of inches.

The rest of the stuff went into the large garden today. There is still room for the cucumbers, Zuchinnis and pumpkins, but they get another week in the green house. We are still not past the frost potential.
The rhubarb is taking off and needs to be picked and pied. My job for tomorrow? Half the grass got it's second cutting today. That will likely be a twice weekly thing for a while. Now all I have to do is sit back and watch things grow, and play with the horses.
We went and looked at a couple of horses Saturday, but none fit the bill. I have expanded the network a bit and I am sure the right horse will turn up.
Life is Good!

  2. Your horses look sleek and well muscled. I can't believe how green and lush everything there has gotten so fast. Good luck with the garden.

  7. Rhubarb is kinda exotic around here. I tasted it for the first time at a church pot luck last year. A lady who moved here from up north brought a pie. I loved is, as I've yet to meet a pie I didn't like. However, my husband wasn't a fan. Cool pictures.
