Life On and Off an Acreage

In-sights into moving from an Acreage back to Town, plus a few things I find of interest.

Two things that horses are scared about:

1. Things that move
2. Things that don't move

They Arrived Safe and Sound!

There are 25 chickens and 12 turkeys in this box. It is just slightly larger than a shoe box. They were loaded up yesterday and mailed to Mayerthorp  overnight. That is a lot to happen to birds that are only one day old.

I figured Brooklynn would go nuts with this many peepers all chirping for 40 minutes. Not so. She ignored the box and went to sleep. It was me that was serenaded all the way home. After transferring them one by one and dipping their beaks in the water tray, they made themselves right at home.

About 5 minutes later, after I filled it, they found the food pan and started munching. It's amazing how God put the drink and eat mechanism into these little guys. By the way, they don't walk anywhere. They scoot.

For those that are following the plight of Boom, his condition worsened and both Elaine, myself and the vet agree that it is time.

  2. Oh, I'm so sorry about Boom. But if he is going to suffer or struggle, yes, it is the right decision. Sweet boy...

Those are adorable chicks. I can hardly believe they just ship 'em in a tiny box like that...I hope they all do well. At least you have some sweet new life to watch around there.

Love those chicks! We have a broody hen and she's sitting 11 eggs right now, so hopefully in about 2 weeks we'll have some chicks ourselves.
