Life On and Off an Acreage

In-sights into moving from an Acreage back to Town, plus a few things I find of interest.

Two things that horses are scared about:

1. Things that move
2. Things that don't move

Old enough to be eccentric, but not rich enough

Birth, Life, Death, ?

This little hairbell is exhibiting almost all the functions of living. Seeds are being formed, the plant is enjoying the life it has been given (if plants can, in effect, enjoy things). Some of the flowers, though pretty, are dwindling out already. In effect the plant has a "lifetime" of a few short months. The seeds will go on to reproduce another plant, and another cycle.

This existence is very much like the human one. We are born, live our "three score and ten", recede and die.

There the similarity stops. All people on earth, no matter where they are in our world, have basic beliefs in a higher being. This is true all throughout history.

When you have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, have repented of your sins, and have been baptised in water, then you are promised through the Word of God that there will be eternal life.

Everyday, I am thankful of being alive, having accepted the Promise, and look forward to the life after death.

I don't know about you, but I am thankful that I am not a plant, with nothing to look forward to.

  1. I am grateful every moment when I am reminded that when I was dead in trespasses and sins, with no desire for God, righteousness, or spiritual things, that He had ordained from the foundation of the world my redemption, then provided His Son to effectively purchase my redemption by imputing to me His righteousness and imputing to Him my sin, thereby declaring me just, and then irresistibly pursuing with the Holy Spirit, until God the Holy Spirit sovereignly gave me life, faith, and opened my heart rendering me both willing and desirous of repenting and believing, and then by His grace andn power preserves me as His own until the day He appears. Yes, I am thankful! God, with no reason known to me, in the face of me having no merit at all, freely, apart from any compulsion of any kind chose to redeem me for the glory of His grace. That is beyond my comprehension.

  2. Hahhahahahhahhaha, thats so funny Ian. I don't know if you meant it to be funny or if your serious and truly are reflecting on the glory and wonder, thrill and gratefulness of not being a plant and having nothing to look forward to but it sure made me spew my coke out on the monitor in an unexpected burst of laughter.

  3. I'm glad too, that there's more to life than this...I'm so thankful, too!

  4. Lovely analogy, Ian.
I wish I could believe, like you and so many others, and find such comfort and solace in that belief.
