I hope that users will find this site useful to post questions on horses, chickens, pets and other small acreage critters. Lets start with: How do you get laying chickens to stop eating eggs?
Ok. Day one of the new strategy, no light for 13 hours, warm temperature of+12C and chickens allowed out produced 3 eggs, 2 in the nest boxes and one on the coop floor. These were 3 eggs more than we have had in the last week total. There are 2 hens that are larger than the others, so I will keep my eye on them as possible culprits.
Day 2 and all is well. 3 more eggs all delivered by noon. One thing different is that the weather is bright, sunny and no snow on the ground so the herd/flock is all outdoors.
